Ideas
Columba believes that his ideas and the values of the Liberal Democrats offer a clear positive change for our area.
He will work with people across Camberwell and Peckham to develop specific ideas to improve the lives of local people.
Columba’s priorities in this election will be:
- Tackling crime across Camberwell and Peckham by campaigning for improved policing, working to resolve the deep-seated problems that cause young people to fall into criminality and to change our criminal justice system that does nothing to prevent reoffending.
- Working to provide more affordable homes and changing the law to make it easier for the council to do up estates.
- Working for local, national and international action to fight climate change
- Working to improve educational attainment, particularly of children from the most disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Working with all parts of the community to ensure young people have access to sports and other activities to develop their self-esteem, self-discipline and self-confidence in a positive way.
- Fighting for our hard-won civil liberties, including defending the right to protest and opposing ID cards.
- Working to preserve the unique character of each part of our area, including small local shops and green spaces like Burgess Park and Peckham Rye Park.
- Celebrating the diversity of our communities, and running a campaign which reaches out to all parts of the community.
